Franklin County, named for Benjamin Franklin, was establised in 1855 as one of the original 33 Kansas Territory counties by the first Territorial Legislature.
County Seat: Ottowa
Townships (16): Appanoose, Centropolis, Cutler, Franklin, Greenwood, Harrison, Hayes, Homewood, Lincoln, Ohio, Ottowa, Peoria, Pomona, Pottawatomie, Richmond, and Williamsburg.
